Choosing the right bi metal band saw blade directly affects cutting efficiency, finish quality, and blade life. Here are 3 key factors to consider:

 

Select the right grade by material to cut

M42 (General Purpose) : 8% cobalt grade, suitable for most carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and tool steel. It offers excellent cost performance and is the industry standard.

 

M51 (High Hardness Grade) : 10% cobalt grade with higher hardness, designed specifically for hardened steel, high temperature alloys, and titanium alloys.

 

Choose width and tooth pitch based on workpiece size

Width : 13-19mm for small-diameter bars/tubes; 27-34mm for medium-heavy workpieces; 41-67mm for large section billets.

 

TPI (Teeth Per Inch) : Coarse pitch (3-6 TPI) for large solid steel sections with fast chip removal; medium pitch (6-10 TPI) for general profiles; fine pitch (10-18 TPI) for thin-walled tubes and sheets to prevent tooth breakage.

 

Match parameters to working conditions

For high speed, heavy duty continuous cutting, choose wider, thicker blades with better toughness. When cutting thin walled parts, use fine pitch blades and reduce feed speed to avoid workpiece deformation.
