Bimetallic bandsaw blades are widely used for cutting round bars, profiles, tubes and various alloy workpieces. Service life depends not merely on raw material grade, but also tooth pitch matching, machine parameters and new blade run in procedure. Follow the well known

3 tooth rule: keep 3 6 cutting teeth engaged with workpiece cross section simultaneously to avoid tooth chipping or strippingZoro. Use coarse pitch for solid thick stock, and variable pitch for tubes and thin wall profiles to reduce vibration and chip clogging.

 

M42 bimetal blades fit general carbon steel and alloy steel. For hard to machine materials such as stainless steel and high temperature alloys, M51 high cobalt tipped blades deliver superior heat resistance and wear performance. Never run a brand new blade at full load immediately. Reduce feed rate for proper run‑in; skipping this step can shorten blade service life by more than 30%.

 

Optimize band speed and feed pressure with sufficient cutting fluid for cooling and lubrication, to prevent tip annealing. Correct blade selection plus standardized operation effectively cuts consumable cost and rejection rate, and improves overall metal sawing productivity.
