High-speed steel saw blades can be classified by chemical composition into ordinary high-speed steel saw blades and high-performance high-speed steel saw blades; and by manufacturing process into cast high-speed steel saw blades and powder metallurgy high-speed steel saw blades.

High-speed steel saw blades, also known as air-hardening steel saw blades or white steel saw blades, are alloy steel saw blades containing a large amount of carbon (C), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), chromium (Cr), and vanadium (V). After cutting, forging, annealing, semi-finishing, quenching, and tooth cutting processes, the high-speed steel blanks possess high hot hardness. Even when the cutting temperature reaches above 600℃, the hardness does not decrease significantly, and the saw blade cutting speed can reach over 60 meters per minute, hence its name.
