Products Description

Carbide tipped band saw blades often use high-hardness alloy materials for their teeth, such as M42 high-speed steel or M51 alloy steel, to handle the high strength and heat resistance of stainless steel.‌ These blades are manufactured through a bi-metal composite process, which combines the tooth section with the backing material, balancing the wear resistance of the tooth tips with the fatigue resistance of the saw band.

The hardness of the teeth is one of the key characteristics

1. M42 alloy teeth can achieve a hardness of HRc 67–69, while M51 alloy teeth are slightly harder at HRc 69–71, enabling the saw teeth to effectively resist wear and high-temperature softening when cutting stainless steel.

2. The tooth design often adopts types such as anti-pull teeth or turtle back teeth, optimizing chip control through tooth set processes to reduce vibration and the risk of tooth breakage when cutting stainless steel.

3. In terms of manufacturing processes, alloy-tooth band saw blades undergo multiple steps such as quenching and tempering as well as coating which enhance surface fatigue life and wear resistance.

4. Coating can create residual compressive stress on the surface of the saw blade, further improving its stability during continuous cutting of stainless steel.

5. In terms of performance, alloy-tooth band saw blades are suitable for continuous sawing of various metals including structural steel, stainless steel, and heat-resistant steel, offering relatively high cutting efficiency.

However, it should be noted that when cutting stainless steel, parameters such as band speed, feed rate, and cooling methods should be adjusted-for example, using a lower band speed and ample cutting fluid-to avoid overheating and tooth wear.

Additionally, new saw blades require a break-in period with low-parameter operation to remove burrs from the tooth edges and extend their service life.
